Oil Originals: Hyrum Joe

Setting out for the ceremony is a father and his daughter. Perched on horseback, they make the long journey across the sometimes inhospitable desert floor. The majestic backdrop of Monument Valley makes the ride more than unforgettable. They wear their "Sunday best" and bring trade blankets on their laps as gifts. They will soon be greeted by children playing with barking dogs outside the hogan. The horses will be watered in the shade, and stew will be served.

Although Hyrum might be recognized as the son of the internationally known alabaster sculptor and bronze artist, Oreland Joe, he has certainly proved that he can stand on his own two feet. Hyrum creates some of the most visually compelling and original works of art in oil that we've seen by anyone his age. He has won the SWAIA fellowship, as well as many other awards, including best of class at major art shows such as the Heard Museum Indian Market.

We are delighted to have this opportunity to show Hyrum's work, which can be seen in only a handful of the most prestigious galleries in Colorado and New Mexico. Because of our close, personal relationship, we were lucky enough to acquire these recent originals, and we look forward to bringing you more.
